Meet The Team: John Hayes

Don't let the half smile fool you, John Hayes, our Lead Air Technician whose been with the company for a total of four years, is known for his friendly outgoing nature. Usually he's sporting a big grin as he bounds from one job to another. We really enjoyed catching up with him and picking his brain about the work he does and the people he works with.

Thoughts about the company

" I love my job! I love being an air tech, it's challenging. I know when a group goes out and use equipment I've worked on, that it will function right and potential help save someone, and I'm proud of that. I remember learning this when Ryan was here, the work intrigued me. I've always been the sort of person who likes to take things apart and figure out how they work. Also, everyone's willing to go out of their way to help one another. Everyone's here for the same reason, it's a genuine feeling.

The Coworkers

"I work with Eric and Drew the most. Erics great, he always gets me with his dad jokes. He's trying to make the company better, you know get things to run more smoothly. And Drew is a character! I enjoy it thought, we have a similar background coming from the Navy. I also spend time with Alex and Jose Alvares. I didn't even realize they were cousins until the second time I came to work for F.I.R.S.T. I learned a lot from Alex, by the example he sets. He helps me to look at myself and see what more I can do in the company. Alvares is a vital part of who I've become. I'd always pick his brain. We talk about what we can do to better the team. And Cantu! He's had a big hand in the rescue technician I've become. When he has time to stop by the office we catch up.

Anybody else you want to mention?

"The man the myth the Legend! Logan Reininger. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Logan. I appreciate Logan giving me the chance that he did. I think he see's potential in me and tries to make me better, as a person and as an employee. He likes to push, and I appreciate the challenge. It's because of him that I'm here.

On your free-time away from work what do you like to do?

" I spend a lot of time with my cousins. We hang out, watch football. Since craw-fish season is coming up we'll probably be having craw-fish on the patio. I like to try and workout everyday if I can. But family. That's the most important thing. I want to make sure that I put in the work to make sure my kids are cared for. I want to lay a foundation for them, just the same way my father did for me, in making sure I have good work ethics. I want to do the same for my kids."

Some of the best people are those who do a good job, know their craft, skill, or job, but are still working to learn more and to be better. John you mentioned several in your statement that you've learned from, its truly a classy thing to give credit where it is due. But we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being you, and always giving your best, with a positive attitude! We look forward to seeing all that you'll accomplish.

From the Team

"He's serious about what he does but he's also a lighthearted person. Easy to work with" - Eric Meyer

"John, man... John has been around for awhile. Even before me. He's a great guy. He's a good friend. Always dressed to impress. He asks for advise, if he finds himself in a difficult situation. He's always ready to help!" - Alex Romero

" John Hayes has a big heart. His experience in what he does makes you want to ensure he's on your team. He's an asset. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty and do hard work. One thing I appreciate about him, is he'll stop by and check on me. Like before he leaves, he drop by and be like ' how are you doing? I'm about to head out and wanted to check on you. Don't stay too late.' and he's sincere about it. I appreciate that about John" - Jose Alvares
