Meet The Team: JoAna Benavidez

From the day JoAna joined our team in October of 2016, she has always been a positive, big-hearted individual. Caring about the people you work with is a big part of what F.I.R.S.T. is. So when a person joins the team that already has those qualities, its like a duck to water, as they say. Before learning rescue she had worked in the industry, JoAna said she had particularly been interested in the rescue side of things, because it involved helping people. JoAna has been a great addition to team F.I.R.S.T. and an integral part of our Beaumont division.
Even though we may not see our work mates at the Beaumont location frequently, word travels and JoAna only has good things said about her. When asked who she's learned from, she humbly remarked " Christian and Jose Torres, the Torres brothers, and also Adrian. If I had any questions they would answer them, and if they saw I wasn't doing something correctly, they would let me know and teach me how to do it better." She has learned well because now she is one of our Rescue Supervisors.
JoAna is a hard working mom, once she has completed her work day, like most of us, there is the never ending to-do list. One of those items being, going to the gym. She laughed and said "if I'm feeling 'lazy' and I don't want to go to the gym, my daughter encourages me to go because she likes playing at the children's center, and so we go!" She mentioned, that she'll drive her kids out to Houston and they'll visit the zoo or the aquarium. She said what they love most is visiting their grandpa and cousins in Mexico during the holiday season. "As long as we are together, we are having fun".
Recently some of the Beaumont team was training at the Baytown Fire Field, and you could see JoAna's motherly instincts at work by kindly but firmly helping the team improve in their skills. JoAna we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work. Your teams praise is a testament to a job well done!
