Meet the Team: James Felder

August 2017 while Hurricane Harvey stationed itself over Texas and dumped an unprecedented amount of water over Houston and surrounding area's, James Felder found himself in Mississippi working a rescue job. For many Houstonians who were not affected by flood and rain waters, they experience a feeling of being trapped, unable to provide assistance. While a good number were able to get out and use their personal trucks, boats and anything else of use to help in rescue work, there were still many more at home waiting out the rain.

It was during this time that James Felder was moved to do one of the things he does best, collaborate. In the middle of Byhalia Mississippi, Felder discussed, with other like minded individuals, how they could help. What resulted was an 18-wheeler full of all forms of supplies for hurricane Harvey victims.

James Felder is one of our Rescue Supervisors and Technicians. He is outgoing, big-hearted and funny. We sometimes call him our comedic relief because, when he does make his way around the office, his goal is to usually make someone smile or laugh. He makes friends where ever he goes. For someone like James Felder, the sky really is the limit.

James Felder has just completed his first year with the company, and in the relatively short time that he's been here, he has made a big impact. It's hard to imagine this place without you Felder. We want to thank you for keeping our environment light-hearted and for bringing a positive can-do attitude that is contagious. We look forward to all the good things you will accomplish in the future!

Interview

What do you appreciate the most about F.I.R.S.T.?: " What I appreciate about FIRST is the people that work here. Like Weldon, who takes pride in his job and trys his best to work with us. Robert Cantu who's always showing you the right way to do things, Vernon Davis and other people who do things the old school way, we learn new things from them. I appreciate joking around with Logan. When you're out of town he calls you all the time to make sure you're okay. It's amazing that on some teams, we do what we're supposed to do and also have fun, its like a small family away from home."

Outside of work what is most important to you?: " Music, because it's my escape from work... just kidding. But being in the studio and listening to music. Also time with family. "
