Meet The Team: Darian Lariviere

After working 10 to 12 hours in the blazing Houston heat, most people would understandably, want to head home unwind and recoup for the next day. But Darian Lariviere is not most people. Her idea of a "stress reliever" is spending time with her roller derby team and getting knocked around, she says "its how I want to spend my time, it's a stress reliever..." You can tell by the way she talks about her team, she views them as extended family, she loves what she does!

From her pass-time we learn a few things about Darian, mostly that, she's one tough cookie. Her father was on the Houston Fire Department rescue team for a good while, so she's always had that influence of being involved in rescue work. For a time Darian went through fire school, there she was taught by one of F.I.R.S.T.'s instructors Brad Hawthorne, and through the influence of Brad and her father, she made her way to F.I.R.S.T. in April of 2015.

Darian is a hard worker who pulls her weight on whatever team she maybe on. I've noticed that work ethic continues here in the office when she's putting in time at the shop. She stays busy. She is a great asset to F.I.R.S.T. and we are happy to have her on our team.

Darian we want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the hard work you've put in and for being a "team-player" not only on your roller derby team but here at F.I.R.S.T. as well!

Interview

What do you appreciate about F.I.R.S.T.?: "I like being able to work with the people that I do. They make the long days entertaining and I like waking up and coming to work knowing that I have good people around me, people that are knowledgeable in this field and that I genuinely enjoy being around. I also like how work has become like a second family to me. They're all good people."

Outside of work what is important to you?: "My family, friends and teammates are super important to me. Pretty much all of my time outside of work is consumed by roller derby. So that's really all I do - work and roller derby."
