Meet The Team: Alex Romero

Dependable, hard working, humble, friendly and patient. We're probably missing multiple adjectives to describe this team members many fine qualities. Alex Romero has worked with F.I.R.S.T. for over five years and has gained experience and respect along the way.
As our Logistics Manager, it's no exaggeration to say he has a full plate. Managing over 30 vehicles in our fleet, not to mention trailers, equipment, and the crew that supports him. We felt the featured picture of him in this article best suites Alex, he's everyone's right hand man. If something needs to be done, and done right you call Alex. I'm not sure how he manages to fit in all that he does, but as stated in the outset of this article one of his main qualities is dependability, because of this he's on everyone's speed dial!
Alex will be the first one to tell you he wasn't always proficient in all the things he is responsible for now. He is humble enough to acknowledge the many long time team-members that have helped him along the way. He says " I knew nothing about this industry and then five years later... some of the main mentors are Brady, and Wayland. They're the best at what they do. I've learned from the way they conduct themselves. I've learned how to eat fried chicken on Tuesday from Logan, no seriously I've learned how to treat people with respect and encourage them, to be fair from Logan. Roy's taught me to take pride in the company, even in the details of what we do. I've learned a lot from many of the people who have worked here." Alex extends the credit of his hard work to people outside of the company, he says about his family " My parents are the reason why I am the person I am. Learning from their example in working hard to give their kids a better life. I appreciate knowing I always have their full support. Also my wife, she's a great woman, and an awesome mother to our three kids. She's a huge support."
Alex serves as a reminder to all of us, to work hard, treat one another with kindness and respect and to take pride in the work that we do. So many people have asked "when is Alex going to be featured on the 'Meet the Team' series?" believe me I have asked many times but he would always say "no I don't need that level of recognition". On behalf of the F.I.R.S.T. team, we want to say thank you for all your help, hard work and support, you make all of our jobs easier!
INTERVIEW
What do you appreciate about F.I.R.S.T.?: "What I appreciate is the team I work with, everyone has their own personalities and you learn to work with and help each other. I appreciate the experience I have learned being here, and the companies commitment to excellence!"
Outside of work what is most important to you?: "Seeing my family happy, it's important to me to be with my kids and take them to their soccer games and golf tournaments. I want to teach them the importance of family, others may turn on you but you always have family. I teach them to look after one another, and to have morals and be respectful."
FROM THE TEAM
"I want to express how much I appreciate everything Alex does, including helping whenever we have a flat tire, no inspection sticker or need an oil change!" - Sylvia Castillo
"Alex's hard work and passion for his job does not go unnoticed at FIRST. He juggles multiple tasks everyday with dedication behind each step. We are very lucky to have him on our team!" - Maegan Creager
" I know here at the office everyone, including myself really appreciates the good humor and the support that Alex offers, but what's truly impressive is the amount of vendors that we work with that really value Alex as a person too. Often times if I have to reach out to the same vendors he works with, they always inquire about Alex and send words of banter to exchange with him. He represents the company very well" - Amanda Hernandez
"Who ya gonna call? Alexxxxx! If there is one guy to go to, who you can rely on, who is dedicated and a man of integrity, I'd call Alex....." - Eric Meyer
" Alex brings good attitude most of the time. Alex and his half smile brightens my day, his laugh can be heard all over the office. He's hard working, can be counted on to get the job done." - Brad Hawthorne
"Alex Romero the young man that showed up at FIRST riding a crotch rocket looking for a job about 5 years ago and with sincere sympathy we decided to hire him as a shop guy starting the next day. This young man knew absolutely nothing about rescue, training, safety, equipment inventories, or how to even back up a trailer. Now 5 years later he is the go to guy at FIRST if you need anything and has become our logistics manager. I get a kick out of watching him with that grinning smile asking all our new hires 'where in the heck did they learned to back up a trailer?' and then he proceeds to teach them what we taught him (boy was that an experience). Everyone at FIRST loves Alex and we are proud to have him on our team." - Logan Reininger
